Historic Biloxi Walking Tour – Stop #6
Magnolia Hotel (c. 1847) (Mardi Gras Museum)

The building at 119 Rue Magnolia is the oldest tangible reminder of the early days of the resort industry in Biloxi, and as such, is one of the most historic buildings on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The Magnolia Hotel, with its mortised and tendoned pegged frame, brick between posts construction and wide galleries, is an important evocation of the early forms of building on the Mississippi Coast, particularly hotels.

➵ Turn around and go back eastward to Rue Magnolia. It is just a few feet behind you. Turn to your left, which is north. This was once a street leading from Front Beach to the Back Bay. This is your next site as you stroll northward.
